RAK brings you The Thrill of the Flight

The world’s longest zipline has opened in Ras Al Khaimah.

Adrenaline junkies and thrill seekers alike will find their perfect weekend adventure challenge in the UAE at the newly opened zipline in Ras Al Khaimah.

The biplane has been recorded as the longest in the world with a length of 28 soccer fields back-to-back and flies through the Grand Canyon of the UAE.

Achieving a Guinness World Record title, the zipline measures a staggering 2.83km long, and official certification was handed over today to recognise the line’s impressive length.

Named the ‘Jebel Jais Flight’, it is hoped to propel the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah into a global destination for adventure tourism.

Following comprehensive surveys, soil tests and construction simulations, the attraction has been in the planning stages for more than a year ensuring environmental and safety measures were correctly in place.

The wire is made up of a steel cable weighing more than six tonnes and is situated 1,680 metres above sea level atop of UAE’s highest mountain, Jebel Jais. Brave passengers are strapped in and suspended above the mountain before flight.

Riders will reach speeds of up to 120kph in a ‘Superman’ position as they whizz down the wire fitted in a special suit. The longest flight can take between two - three minutes and offers guests incredible views of Jebel Jais.

Once completed, participants will land on a unique suspended platform before transferring to a second 50m zipline to take them back to ground.
