Dubai Jazz Festival 2017 has kicked off
This week marks the 14th year of the Dubai Jazz Festival, a sell-out three-night music extravaganza that attracts stars from across the globe, and has welcomed over 500,000 fans since its inception in 2003.
The event is the most celebrated music event in the UAE, and has picked up a number of awards, including the ‘What’s On’ award for ‘Best Festival’ for four years running, between 2006-2010; ‘Best Public Entertainment Event in The Middle East’ in 2008; ‘Best Marketing of An Event’ in 2009; and two more awards in 2010 for ‘Best Music Event’ and ‘Best Music Festival’.
There have been over 450 shows performed at the festival over the last 14 years. The theme of the festival is ‘Much More than Jazz’, and the event has attracted a number of critically acclaimed and award winning artists, such as Sting, David Gray, John Legend, Christina Perri, James Blunt, The Script, Jamie Cullum, and Colbie Caillat.
The venue of the festival has changed over the years, starting in Dubai Media City Amphitheatre, then moving to Dubai Festival City. This year the festival is taking place at its original home at Media City, between 22-24 February. Once again, the fantastic line-up promises to give the audience three nights of brilliant entertainment. The line up this year includes The Rad Trads, Tom Jones, Raul Midon, Mariah Carey, Nathan Sykes, and Enrique Iglesias.
